why crochet instead of knitting?

I have a friend who can knit the most beautiful things... I just can't do it!  Crochet is quick, simple & more forgiving than knitting & it finds it way into my handmade jewellery at every opportunity.  If you have no idea what crochet is then the official explanation is 'needlework done by interlocking looped stitches with a hooked needle' - sounds far more complicated than it actually is!

I crochet with cotton yarn, wool & every now & again narrow guage wire.   The reason I love it is because you can use different size hooks & depending on how thick the yarn is you are working with something can be created very very quickly. 

To give you an idea, all the crochet balls in my  beaded necklaces & bead bracelets each take 20 minutes, which is no time at all when you are sitting on the sofa surrounded by cats & watching rubbish on the TV!
